Purpose of consultation

Change in a community can be exciting but may also cause concern for some people. Being informed of possible change allows you to understand how a development project could affect the local community. The purpose of consulting the community is to engage with and understand the community’s opinions on the proposed development, with the intent to identify any social impacts both positive and negative. By understanding how the community feels about a possible change, the applicant has the opportunity to mitigate and manage possible concerns.
